Eskom’s plans to cut power to the Lekwa local municipality, in Mpumalanga, will interrupt poultry producer Astral’s feed and poultry operations in Standerton with “catastrophic” results, the company has warned. Astral has received notification that Eskom plans to start interruptions of its bulk electricity supply to the Lekwa municipality on January 23 as a result of outstanding payments to Eskom.
