Business confidence hits lowest level this year in September

The South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Sacci) Business Confidence Index (BCI) dipped to a 2016 low in September – in fact, the lowest since July 1985’s index of 90.2 – resulting in a markedly lower average index for the first three quarters of this year than the comparable prior-year period. The BCI slipped to 90.3 in September, 2.6 index points lower than the 92.9 measured in August and 4.1 lower than in September 2015.
