The Japanese government has confirmed its support for renewed efforts across Africa towards greater economic integration, which Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Hiroshige Seko says will increase the continent’s “market value” and improve prospects for investment by Japanese companies. Speaking at the inaugural Japan-Africa Public Private Economic Forum in Johannesburg on Thursday Seko praised the recent signing of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) and said further regional integration would make the continent more inviting for Japanese investors.
